Q: How much homework should my child get each night?
A: Students should have math nightly. Typically on Fridays I give students a chance to start their math homework in class.  They are required to read for 20 minutes a night Monday-Thursday if they do not have assigned reading homework.  Students may have additional homework in social studies or science occasionally. They also may bring work home that they haven't completed in class if there will be no additional time given.

Q: Where should my child turn in his or her homework?
A:  Most of the time students will check their own math homework and I will have a child stamp "checked in class".  Other times, I collect math homework and it is marked and returned in their Friday folders.   Other homework will be asked for when needed.

Q: How much time should my child spend on homework?
A:  Students should spend about 50 minutes on homework a night.  If your child reaches 90 minutes of working on homework straight, please write me a note so we can discuss what needs to be modified for the next night.

Q: My child forgot their homework.  What can I do?
A:  Students can call a friend and get the problems written on a piece of paper to complete.  You can make up problems for them to practice and turn it in with a note.  If the assignment is accepted as a replacement, I will let you know.  Otherwise your child should complete the assignment the next day.
